Stephen King's genius shines in his short story writing. Just After Sunset is just as entertaining as his other short story collection that I read last summer (Everything's Eventual). Short stories exist in their own magical genre of narrative; there is something so wonderful about being able to read a full "story" (or two, or three . . . ) in one sitting and then digest and think about it throughout the rest of your day. Don't get me wrong - my favourite books are generally long-winded epics. Short stories, however, have a special power to entertain on a level that is unique. King kept me entertained with all of his stories in this collection and I enjoyed reading every one. The strongest in the collection are "The Gingerbread Girl", "N.", and "In A Very Tight Place". As always, I love King's ability to infuse humour and horror and tell some nice twisted tales. 4 / 5 magical beans.
