![]() This collection of short stories was a buffet of descriptive writing excellence and anecdotes of disturbing tales in pockets of everyday communities. Bradbury remains the forefront of imagery-writing excellence in my mind. October Country is further evidence of this excellence being showcased on all fronts. Many of these short stories had me smiling as goosebumps prickled up my arms. I love creepy stuff and this was a nice series of creepiness in no short supply. Perhaps the most disturbing elements of Bradbury's literature is that it appeals with an undercurrent of universal truth, connected to our fears and weaknesses. These truths hide behind the fantastical genre of the macabre/bizzare/science-fiction realm. Wrapped up in a grey blanket on a couch in the B.C. mountains, I ate up this tasty, creepy treat of autumn bliss. Highly recommended for a descriptive fulfillment.
